Gold Silently Gathers Strength
Chaos Clinic for 6/17/2020

Gold, specifically the GLD Exchange Traded Fund, has been a good position trade
or investment since 2018. In my 10/30/2018 Chaos Clinic I pointed out that it
was about to start a significant rally. Since then I have done several Clinics
on GLD, which you can read in the blog section of the home page of MoneyTide.com
This two year, 8 hour bar chart shows the rally since then. I have also shown a rainbow of
EXMAs. The legend shows their values in bars. I like to convert that to days. Here dividing the
values by 3 converts them to days. The longest, 288 bars, is 96 days, just over a quarter.
It has been support for the rally, broken only by the panic dip labled X.
That EXMA helps draw the major up channel. That channel has a speed of 3 points per month. A full cycle move
of 360 points would take 10 years, and a half cycle 5 years. So GLD could remain a
good trade for some time.
I have numbered moves on the chart. This numbering is always somewhat of a guess. My Chaos Clamshells
normally have 7, but can run to 13. Elliotte Wave uses 5, with ABC corrections. So what
to label the sharp drop in March was a question, so I settled on just X, which to me means "I don't know."
What was important to me was the recovery from X. I did find two very close planetary transits that
could explain the dip, and noted that the bounce came off the same price level as move 4.
The rally off X was strong, producing new highs. Since then, prices have hovered near 162. But
recently they dipped to the 48 day ( 144 ) EXMA and bounced. That is marked at the magenta point 2.
This bounce did not make the 48 day EXMA dip. That is a stronger action than at 4 or X. So GLD
is gaining strength.
